Goodna Special School is committed to equity and excellence in education - we strive to ensure that all of our students become confident, creative, lifelong learners active in their community. As part of this, student learning progress is tracked and assessed to ensure continued positive educational outcomes. Our school curriculum is sequentially planned across a three-year cycle and supervised by our Heads of Department - Curriculum (Primary and Secondary). Student data is regularly monitored and reviewed to drive curriculum decision making and strategic planning to ensure optimal student achievement.
Goodna Special School is divided into five junctures:
- Prep
- Junior Primary (Years 1-3)
- Upper Primary (Years 4-6)
- Lower Secondary (Years 7-9)
- Senior Secondary (Years 10-12)
This juncture structure supports student learning, allowing it to be individualised, as well as age-appropriate. Juncture leaders work closely with teachers and our Heads of Department - Curriculum. Juncture teachers plan units of work together, ensuring relevant curriculum is differentiated appropriately for each juncture's age level, while taking into account the individual strengths, needs and interests of each student.
